Glad Tidings Centre Assemblies of God
This local church consist of the group of adherents to the Assemblies of God, Ghana tenets in Adiebeba, Nhyiaeso East and West, Ahodwo and others from other suburbs of Kumasi, who meet regularly for worship under the leadership of an accredited worker of the Assemblies of God Ghana.The church in January 1980, as a branch church by the Assemblies of God church Akwatialine, Kumasi. The church (GLAD TIDINGS CENTRE ASSEMBLIES OF GOD) is situated at Adiebeba in Kumasi.
The first pastor for the church was Rev. Ebenezer Baffour Asamoah. He pastured the church for ten years (1980-1990) and then was transferred to a different church. The second pastor for the church was Rev. Moses Seidu Sumaila. He continued the good work left by Rev Asamoah. He also pastored for fifteen years (1990 – 2005). He was then transferred to the position of the Assistant General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God church Ghana. Taking over from Rev Sumaila and continuing the good work is Rev. Benedict Oppong Kwarteng and is the current pastor of the church till date.
The local church is made up of 27% salary workers , 48% self employed and the other 25% students and apprentices. The church has a great future because of the large number of the youth in Senior High Schools and Junior High Schools as well as those in Lower Levels of Education. As at now the membership of the church has grown tremendously to Four Hundred and Twenty-Three(423).
The church GLAD TIDINGS CENTRE is a Missions church. Taking from Luke 8:1 ¶And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him.
